The Starter Division is for basketball players age 12 to 14yrs old who are currently in middle school. In Bermuda, the BSSF school league is the first real taste of organized competitive basketball. Our program designed to prepare these athletes to play for their respective schools by instructing and building on the eight essential basketball skills combined with learning how to form positive work habits on and off the court. Players learn offensive and defensive concepts as it pertains to individual and team performance and their role within a team setting. We cement the value of hard work, discipline, positive attitude and accountability.
BYB League games are divided into 16-minute halves running clock with a 35 second shot clock to accelerate decision making skills thereby increasing the pace and flow of the game. All players will attend a skill assessment camp over six Saturdays, once complete players assigned to teams with talent evenly distributed to ensure competitive balance. All teams will have a maximum of ten players to ensure playing time.
